Our first "interesting blog"

Last time I posted I wrote about some of the bad international adoptions I had seen and today is my first real case happening in real time.
This is the blog's address

Oh yes this is the kind of family that gets international adoptees a bad name, the child they were going to adopt has family and they have changed their mind like all families have the right to do.  So instead of taking a step back, reassessing the situation and thinking again they dive head on into the slums.  The slums in Uganda are a really tough place - really really tough place and people are desperate.  So desperate they will give away their children to Muzungus (the Ugandan word for white people) if I took every baby I have ever been offered in the slums I would have about 2000 by now.  But I am sensible and I don't and if a mother is desperate to give away her baby because she has no hope then I try to help.  But oh no not this family, no background, no history, no sitting back and trying to help the mother.  Oh no, lets just go into the slums and accept the first baby they are offered and even worse it's from there mother.  There are millions of orphans in Uganda without either parent, why not choose one of those children.

I'll let you make your own mind up about this family, quite frankly I am disgusted!

Case 1 - The bad international adoptees

During my time in Uganda I've met hundreds of families seeking out a Ugandan child to adopt internationally, on the main part it's Americans who come to Uganda to adopt because of the loop holes in their law that mean they don't have to sit out the 3 year legal guardianship order in Uganda.  During my meetings with these families I have been completely dumb struck by some of their attitudes, adopting a child from Uganda is a privilege and not a right but most of the families I've met are adopting for in my opinion "the wrong reasons".  Whether it be to show a baby in church and say to everyone look I saved an African baby or whether its to prove they are "good people".  Don't get me wrong I have also witnessed some wonderful families who will bring their children up fantastically and give them the best shot at life ever, but in the most part with the Ethiopia borders closing to international the crazies are moving to Uganda.

Over the coming weeks I'll be exposing some of the things that I have witnessed first hand and some of the blogs I've come across with regards to shocking international adoption stories, from baby shopping to buying children from parents and coercing family members with bribes to give up their child for a better life, trust me I've seen it all.  Whatever I've seen you will see too, let the exposure begin

Post 1 - Why I'm here and what I'm doing

I've spent many a year in Uganda and in the last month have finally decided to speak out about some of the injustices I am seeing on a regular basis by international people.  Whether this be an abuse of rights, taking advantage of Ugandans, baby shopping or slave labour - whatever it be I'll be blogging about it.  See Uganda is a beautiful country, in my opinion the most beautiful in the world and the people are wonderful, genuine and welcoming.  Uganda is my second home and a place that I love to be but some people are risking spoiling that for us and I'm all about "outing them".  So if you've come across a "crazy blog", or witnessed an injustice being done first hand then I urge you to send me the link or information so I can blog about it.  This blog will only work with your help, it's completely anonymous, and you can e mail me sarahyounguganda@yahoo.co.uk to give me your information.  My promise to you is that I will never name you and will keep your identity completely secret, having had the back lash of some of the crazies in question I know all about keeping a lid on it.  It's about time as an international community that we all came together to stand against the injustices being done to Ugandan's every day!

Let the exposure begin!
